In a warehouse on the river, we found samplings of seventy-seven restaurants, an open bar with hand crafted drinks by veteran mixologists, at least two live bands, and women floating on sticks and swinging from the ceiling. This truly was a party from a different world.
With whiskey lemonade in one hand (crafted by Collin of Franklin Mortgage and Investment Company) and a plate loaded with two fried drumsticks from ?uest-Loves Food and pulled pork nachos in the other, my hands were full. The drumsticks were so good I scrambled over to my accomplice, as he was snapping some shots of the graffiti artists who were tagging an enormous 8’ x 50’ Feastival banner.
The 2nd annual Feastival was a night to remember and for a cause that Paradigm Magazine is proud to support. This grandiose spectacle was to benefit the Philly Fringe / Live Arts Festival. Audrey Claire, who is providing her delicious culinary skills for our magazine’s launch event on October 15, and Michael Solomonov (look for his interview to be published in the virtual pages of Paradigm Magazine shortly), along with Steven Starr, chaired this year’s event. This shindig was a bit too fancy for our Levis so we suited up, not a “How I Met Your Mother” reference. After sampling small plates from about 20 restaurants I was ready to throw in the towel and pass out.
Thinking that some dessert would hit the spot, I noticed a table of huge, colorful cupcakes. It turns out they were lasagna cupcakes, where do they come up with these ideas? Still on the prowl for something sweet, my partner and I ran into George Perrier of La Bec-Fin, who, by the way, defines the word swagger. He offered us an assortment of desserts that was exactly the right fix. With a stomach unable to handle more food and drink, it was time to roll.
