“My product is my legacy in this world; it’s what I have chosen to represent me. It’s a singular dedication to a vision of how men should dress and live. It’s all I have. It’s all I think about. I guess you’d call it passion.”

Introduction by Theo Constantinou

My business partner told me that I had to meet a custom clothier based in Philadelphia. He said that his brand and aesthetic were an exact representation of myself and the principles we hold dear to us here at Paradigm. I was skeptical at first, but what I discovered about Craig Arthur von Schroeder is that his brand Commonwealth Proper is more than just timeless style and handmade American bespoke suits. Commonwealth Proper is an EXACT representation of Craig, an individual who leads his life based on ethics, principles and a steadfast resilience. Herodotus claimed that, “Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; while others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before.” I quote Herodotus here because, Crag has faced many challenges and instead of abandoning his goal, he is more vigorous than ever in seeing his dreams actualized. Living ones work as an extension of their life, and pushing oneself to create the best product possible out of necessity, speaks volumes about that individual. In this case, that is Craig Arthur von Schroeder, and his life, Commonwealth Proper.
